'Christmas Handicap' Event

In keeping with tradition, the 'Christmas Handicap' takes place this Sunday 15 December, the last Sunday before the Christmas break. Unfortunately, registration is now closed and only swimmers who registered before 09 December can compete.

This is a fun event involving swimmers of all ages competing in heats against each other in their chosen stroke. Fastest swimmers progress to the next heats and then to the final.

Swimmers starting with faster times will be 'handicapped' so that ideally each race will end in a finger-tip finish. Prizes will be given for every swimmer - the biggest reserved for the overall winner.

Venue: Leith Victoria

Time:   Warm-up for Inter 1 (boys) & Inter 2 is at 5.00 - 5.15pm
           Warm-up for Advanced, Inter 1 (girls) & Club is at 5.15 - 5.30pm

Competition starts at 5.35pm

Au revoir to the Dean Family

We are sorry to have to say goodbye to the Dean Family (Hilary, Ben, Tom and Alex) as they head off to Australia in January.

Many thanks for their support over the years, especially Hilary who has been a fantastic poolside helper for the Intermediate Squads.

We wish them a safe journey and all the very best as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.

Five swimmers attended Round 1 of the East Districts Championships at the new Michael Woods Centre in Glenrothes. The weekend covered the longer distance swims in the 400 freestyle, 400 IM, 800 freestyle and 1500 freestyle.

Social Committee

Thank you all very much for helping to make the Club Championships a great success. Stand aside the great British bake-off - the baking this year was tremendous and the café, toasties, raffle and tombola raised a whopping £413.95.

Thanks to everyone who brought, bought and helped out on the day. Special thanks go to Gillian Alexander and Leanne Reid for organising the tombola; Lindsay Brindle for doing the raffle; Mike Andrew for running the café, and Lynne Lineen for making the toasties.

The IASC gearshop did brisk business and we took nearly £600 in sales and orders. The Shop will be open again at the Christmas Handicap this Sunday, so please come along if you need to get any last-minute Christmas presents.

I'm sure everyone was very impressed by our new IASC pull-up banner. Our grateful thanks to Shona O'Connor for designing and producing this for us. I'm sure you'll agree that it looks fantastic and we look forward to using it at future internal events and at external competitions to further raise the profile of the club.

Many thanks again

Judith
